Where to get free Wi-Fi in Thailand?

Free Wi-Fi in Thailand is available almost everywhere, especially in tourist areas. Here are the main places where you can find it:
- Hotels and guesthouses: Almost all accommodations offer free Wi-Fi for guests. Just ask for the login and password at the reception. Paid internet in hotels is now very rare.
- Airports: All international airports (Bangkok, Phuket, Samui, etc.) have free access points.
- Cafes, restaurants, and fast-food chains: Chains like Starbucks, McDonald's, as well as many local cafes provide free Wi-Fi to guests.
- Shopping malls: Large malls in Bangkok, Pattaya, and other cities have publicly accessible networks.
- Public networks from operators: In cities, there are public Wi-Fi networks from cellular operators (AIS, Dtac, True), but access to them is usually included in the service packages of certain local SIM card tariffs, and is not completely free for everyone.
If you need guaranteed and stable connection anywhere, it's best to buy a local SIM card with mobile internet. And for occasional calls home or checking email, hotel or cafe Wi-Fi will suffice.
We recommend reading our full review: Communication and Internet in Thailand, where we also talk about internet cafes and international phones.
