How to get from Hanoi Airport to Hoan Kiem Lake?

You can get from Noi Bai International Airport to Hoan Kiem Lake in central Hanoi in several ways. The distance is about 30 km, and travel time depends on the chosen transport and road traffic.

Main transfer options:

1. Taxi or Grab app (similar to Uber): The most convenient and fastest way. The trip will take from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Taxi cost is approximately 300,000 - 400,000 dong (12-16 USD). Grab is often cheaper. Download the app in advance.
2. Airport Bus Express No. 86: The most budget-friendly option. The bus goes directly from the airport terminals to a stop near the Old Quarter, close to the lake. Travel time is about 1 hour 15 minutes. Ticket cost is only 45,000 dong (less than 2 USD). Buses run from 5:00 to 22:00.
3. Hotel transfer: Many hotels in the Old Town (area near the lake) offer airport pickup service. The price is usually fixed and comparable to a taxi, but without language barriers.
