For how long is the visa-free stamp in Thailand given to tourists in 2026?

In 2026, tourists from Russia entering Thailand without a visa receive a stamp for 30 days. This rule has been in effect since September 15, 2026, when the visa-free stay period for citizens of 93 countries, including Russia, was reduced from 60 to 30 days.

The 30-day count starts from the date that the border officer puts in the stamp during passport control, not from the moment of arrival. This is important: if the flight landed on May 10 shortly before midnight, and you passed control after midnight, then the first day of stay will be considered May 11. Both the day of arrival and the day of departure are included in the calculation. For example, if you entered on April 10, then the 30th day ends on May 9, and you need to fly out on that day.

If 30 days is not enough, the visa-free period can be extended for another 30 days at the immigration office. For this, you will need an application, a photo 3.5×4.5 cm, a ticket out of the country, and a fee of 1900 baht. When entering, you must comply with several conditions that may be checked selectively:

• fill out the electronic form Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) no earlier than 3 days before arrival;
• have return tickets or tickets to a third country that fall within the visa-free stay period;
• have cash in the amount of 20,000 baht per person or 40,000 baht per family – dollars, euros, or rubles at the current exchange rate are suitable.

The passport must formally be valid for the entire duration of the trip. However, airlines often require at check-in that at least 6 months remain until the end of the passport's validity, so it is better not to risk it and renew your passport in advance.

If you exceed the visa-free 30 days, you will have to pay a fine of 500 baht for each day of overstay at departure, but not more than 20,000 baht. If the overstay exceeds 15 days, deportation and a ban on entry are threatened, so it is better not to tempt fate.
