It is easiest to find out the real dollar exchange rate in Bangkok today on the websites of the Superrich exchange chains. In our experience, they offer the best rate in all of Thailand. There are two main chains: green (superrichthailand.com) and orange (superrich1965.com). Their websites update rates in real time, so you will always know how many baht you get for a dollar right now.

However, just looking at the rate is not enough β€” it is important to know where to exchange. We have tried many places in different areas of Bangkok, and each time we returned to Superrich. The best rate is traditionally at their head offices, which are located near each other in the Pratunam area, not far from the Big-C hypermarket. Here is their location on the map. You can get there by metro to Chit Lom station or by canal boat from Panfa Leelard Pier (Khao San Road area) to Pratunam Pier.

If you do not want to go to the center, but are arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport and heading further, do not rush to exchange money upstairs. Go down to the lowest floor to the Airport Rail Link (ARL) station. There are Superrich, Happy Rich, and Kasikorn Bank exchange booths. The rate there is excellent, almost like in the city, and the queues are shorter than at the orange Superrich. The only downside is that they are open only from 05:30 to 23:30.

By the way, in the popular tourist area of Khao San Road, there are no Superrich exchange booths, and the rate at local points is always worse. So if you have a large amount (several hundred dollars or more), a trip to Pratunam will pay off. But if you need to exchange only $100, it is easier to do it at any nearby exchange booth to avoid wasting time on travel.
