You can get to Mae Klong market from Bangkok in two main ways. The most authentic and interesting is by train. To do this, you need to:
- Get to Wongwian Yai Railway Station in Bangkok and take a train to the village of Maha Chai (ticket costs about 10 baht, travel time β 1 hour).
- In Maha Chai, get off, walk a couple of minutes to Mahachai Pier and cross the river by ferry for 3 baht.
- On the other side, walk 5 minutes to Ban Laem station and take a train to the final station Mae Klong (another 10 baht and 1 hour travel time).
The second way is by bus or minivan. From Bangkok's southern bus terminal Sai Tai Mai, minivans depart every 30 minutes. The journey takes just over an hour, ticket costs from 100 baht. They arrive at the bus station in Mae Klong, from where the market is a 5-minute walk. This option is convenient if you want to arrive early and wait for the train's arrival.
