How to get from Sapa to Laos?

You can take a direct international sleeper bus from Sapa to Laos. This is a popular route among travelers who want to continue their tour of Southeast Asia. The journey is long but passes through scenic mountainous areas.

• Destinations: Direct buses go to Luang Prabang and Muang Khou.
• Travel time: To Luang Prabang — almost a day (about 24 hours), to Muang Khou — about 16 hours.
• Cost: From $25 to Luang Prabang, from $17 to Muang Khou.
• Departure: Buses usually depart from Sapa in the evening, at 18:00-19:00.
• Border: Crossing is through the border checkpoint near Dien Bien Phu. Russian citizens can get a visa on arrival (or it is not required, depending on the length of stay).

Alternative option: You can travel independently with a transfer in Dien Bien Phu city:

1. Buy a ticket for the night bus Sapa — Dien Bien Phu (departure ~18:00, cost ~250,000 dong).
