It is best to take US dollars (USD) or euros (EUR) with you to Egypt. There will be no problems with these currencies: they are easy to exchange almost everywhere, and in many tourist places (hotels, on excursions, markets) you can pay with them directly, without exchanging for pounds.

As for Russian rubles, bringing them for exchange or payments does not make much sense. Rubles can only be exchanged in resort areas with private money changers or other tourists, but the rate will be very unfavorable due to the high volatility of the ruble. Rubles are only suitable as a backup option in an emergency.
