Who is eligible for a free Sinai stamp in Egypt?

Officially, citizens of the following countries have the right to a free Sinai stamp:
- United Kingdom
- United States
- European Union countries
- Israel (but only when entering through the Taba border crossing)
Interesting point: Russia is not in this official list. However, in practice, border guards at Sinai airports widely and quite calmly stamp this for Russian tourists. Cases of refusal are extremely rare. The reasons for such leniency are not precisely known—perhaps there are unofficial agreements.
Thus, if you are flying from Russia directly to Sharm el-Sheikh or Nuweiba, with a high probability you will be given a free stamp allowing a stay in Sinai for up to 15 days. But always be prepared that they may require payment for a regular visa costing $25.
