At Sharm el-Sheikh airport, they ask for money for the Sinai stamp, is it legal?

No, it's illegal. The Sinai stamp is issued absolutely free of charge. However, at Sharm el-Sheikh airport, there is a common scheme to deceive tourists.
How it usually happens:
- After exiting the plane, you are met by people who look like representatives of tour operators.
- They "help" with queue distribution, check documents, and then demand payment of 2-5 dollars for filling out the immigration card (white form).
What to do:
- Do not pay. Filling out this card is your responsibility, but it is free.
- Immigration card forms should be freely available on counters before passport control. Take one and fill it out yourself.
- If there are no forms on the counters, boldly approach the passport control window without queuing and politely ask the officer for a form. They are obliged to give it to you.
- Bring a pen with you—they are usually not provided in the passport control area.
Remember: the legal visa upon arrival (not the Sinai stamp) you pay for only at a special cash desk, and its cost is fixed—25 dollars. Any other payments "for assistance" or "for the form" are a scam.
More tips on how not to become a victim of deception, and all information about visas is collected in our article: What is the Sinai stamp and what is it for tourists.
