What currency is best to take to Bali?

For a trip to Bali, it is best to take US dollars, as they are exchanged at the most favorable rate. Preference is given to new-design hundred-dollar bills (issued after 2013) with a blue security strip, as old bills or denominations less than $50 may be accepted at a discount or not accepted at all. Dollars are also needed to pay for the visa upon arrival.

Alternatives can be euros or yuan, but their rate is usually less favorable. For example, calculations show that exchanging through dollars yields 2–6% more rupees at the output compared to other currencies. Rubles are not recommended to be exchanged due to the very low rate at local exchange offices.

Cryptocurrency USDT is also a profitable option, especially if you are familiar with crypto exchanges. However, be cautious with private exchangers on Telegram, as there is a high risk of fraud. Ideally, combine several methods: cash dollars, a bank card, and the GoPay electronic wallet.
