To brew Vietnamese coffee, you will need a special brewing cup (phin) and condensed milk. Vietnamese people usually drink coffee with condensed milk, but if you prefer black, just skip it.
Instructions:
- Pour 1–2 spoons of condensed milk into a cup.
- Place the brewing cup on top and add 15–20 g of ground coffee (2–4 teaspoons) into it.
- Press the coffee with a press and pour 20 ml of boiling water.
- Wait 15–20 seconds, then add another 45 ml of boiling water (or more, to taste).
- When all the liquid has dripped into the cup, the drink is ready.
This brewing method reveals the rich flavor of the coffee, especially if using blends of robusta and arabica. Iced coffee is also popular — just add ice to the finished drink.
