Is it worth buying electronics in Vietnam?

In our opinion and based on our experience comparing prices in Vietnam with Russian ones, there is no point in buying electronics such as smartphones, computers, memory cards, components, photo and video cameras in Vietnam, unless you have an urgent need. For example, if your smartphone or camera breaks during your vacation, or you run out of memory cards, you can buy them here as a last resort.

In general, prices for electronics and components here are not lower, but rather higher than in chain stores in Russia, not to mention gray imports directly from China through marketplaces. In November-December 2024, we visited several local electronics chain stores and compared the prices of popular models online with those in Russia, and came to this conclusion. Moreover, when buying electronics here, you will also be left without a warranty. You can compare these prices yourself in the photo below.

Of course, we do not rule out isolated situations where some latest models or specific items that are not officially available in Russian stores may be cheaper here, but that is a different story.

In any case, if you urgently need to buy something electronic in Vietnam, we recommend first looking in large chain stores like Dien may XANH or Green Machine (website https://www.dienmayxanh.com) and Media Mart (website https://mediamart.vn). They have a large selection, an online store and an electronic catalog, in general, everything like at home.
