We do not recommend buying Luwak Coffee or its analog Weasel Coffee in Vietnam. In most cases, it is a counterfeit, especially considering the sales volumes. For example, in 2017, the company Trung Nguyen was caught supplying fake Luwak to restaurants.

Real Luwak is made from beans that have passed through the digestive system of a mongoose or weasel, but such coffee is very rare and expensive. If you are not an expert, you are unlikely to feel the difference between it and regular varieties, and you will overpay dozens of times. It is better to choose trusted brands of regular coffee like Highlands Coffee or Trung Nguyen β€” both tasty and reliable.

In addition, the production of Luwak is associated with ethical issues: animals are often kept in poor conditions. So, even if you are offered 'real' Luwak, think three times whether it is worth buying it, as this also encourages such treatment of animals.
