No, it is not worth it. Of course, if you wish, you can find exchange of rubles for dollars or local pounds, or even exchange non-cash rubles (by transfer) for local currency, but the exchange rate will be very unfavorable.

Here is one of the latest examples for your understanding, which was shared in our Egypt chat by one of the tourists in December 2024. They managed to exchange rubles for dollars in Hurghada at a rate of 125 rubles per dollar, while at that time in Russian banks dollars could be bought for 100 rubles. That is, the loss from such an exchange is 25%!!! And it's fine if we are talking about a small amount of ten dollars, but even for 100 dollars, this is a loss of 2500 rubles at the exchange rate, i.e., this is simply the money you give to the "exchangers." The situation is no better with non-cash exchange through "money changers" on Telegram: their rate is slightly better (115 rubles per dollar), but the exchange amounts start from 200 dollars. That is, you cannot exchange small amounts with them, so in any case you will "give" them at least 3000 rubles for the exchange.

We have already described what currency is best to take to Egypt and where to exchange it in our detailed article here - https://nashaplaneta.net/africa/egypt/kakuyu-valyutu-brat-v-egipet
