Some flights with a transfer in Istanbul provide for a change of airport. But keep in mind that from 2019 flights to the Old Airport. Ataturk is no longer executed. If your ticket indicates that you are arriving/departing from Istanbul airport with the IATA code-IST (Istanbul Airport, IST), then we are talking about a new airport.

The distance between Istanbul airports is 80 kilometers, and it will take at least 2 hours to cover it. see Sabiha Gokcen Airport on the map, (new airport on the map). To this you need to add the possible waiting time for the bus (1 hour), the time of baggage collection and passage of control on arrival (1 hour), and the time of check-in and passage of control at the exit (preferably at least 2 hours). Total it turns out that between the arrival and departure of the next flight should be at least 6 hours. You can reduce the time a little if you go by taxi, but this way you will reduce the maximum of 1 hour.
Whether such a transfer is worth the rush, or it is better to stay in Istanbul for one day, of course, you decide. You can find flights to Istanbul or anywhere in the world using the search form from Aviasales:

So, to get from the new Istanbul airport to Sabiha Gokcen airport or back, you can do this:
By metro
- Working hours: from 6:00 to 00:00
- Frequency: every 5-10 minutes
- Cost: from 7.67 liras (0.17 USD) up to 15 liras (0.33 USD) depending on the payment method
- Website: www.metro.istanbul/
In January 2023, the metro was finally launched to the new airport, and now you can get between airports in this way, although you will have to make transfers. Moreover, transfers from the subway to the ferry, and again to the subway. As far as this is justified, we cannot yet judge, we have not checked it ourselves, but there is a theoretical possibility. Here is the scheme of the trip from the New airport to Sabihi Gokcen:
First take the new M11 branch to the terminal; transfer by M2 to one of the city ferry piers; cross to the other side of the Bosphorus to Kadikoy Pier; in Kadikoy take the M4 branch to Sabiha Gokcen Airport.
From Sabiha Gokcen to the New Airport, everything is, respectively, in reverse order. Keep in mind that you will have to walk a lot during transfers, so this option is not very suitable for a trip with luggage, it is better to take a taxi or direct buses.
To make it clearer how to deal with all this, you can read our detailed instructions about the Istanbul metro and about Istanbul ferries.
By taxi
A taxi ride will be very expensive - from 1000 lire (21.76 USD, see Turkish currency and exchange rate). The car can be ordered at the counter in the arrival hall, through the local BiTaksi application (cheaper) or international Uber (more expensive), or order a ready-made transfer from Kiwitaxi in advance:
By bus
The only direct flight is operated by Havaist branded buses, the iST-8 route. They depart from both airports with stops at the exit and terminal from the arrivals hall. The journey is scheduled for 100 minutes, but it can really take 2 hours or more. They are sent according to the schedule from 04:45 to 02:45 every hour, you can check the schedule here - https://hava.ist/en/Voyage/VoyageTime.
The fare is 105 liras (2.28 USD), paid in the bus at the entrance with a single card Istanbul card, or contactless bank plastic card. But there may be problems with paying with some foreign plastic cards, so keep that in mind. If the payment with your card does not pass, you will have to return to the terminal, change money or withdraw cash from an ATM, and then buy an Istanbul Kart plastic card for 7 lira in the machine, and replenish it to pay for the trip.
