Turkish customs regulations

The customs rules of Turkey are not very strict, simple and understandable for tourists to understand. There are no "original" restrictions such as a ban on the import or export of chewing gum or cigarettes.

Customs clearance is built according to international standards with a green and red corridor: if there is nothing to declare, then after passing through passport control and baggage claim, go through the green corridor; if there is something to declare, fill out the declaration and go through the Red Corridor. Both in the green and in the red corridors, customs officers conduct random checks.

What is forbidden to import/export from Turkey

The list of items prohibited for movement across the border of Turkey is quite traditional, although there are features:

• Drugs and guns.
• All kinds of Earth and natural fertilizers (including leaves, branches, straw, grass).
• Slot machines and their accessories.
• Home-made alcoholic beverages, draft.
• Chemicals listed in the annex to the chemical weapons convention.

What is forbidden to export

It is strictly forbidden to export the following items from Turkey:

• Objects of natural and cultural heritage.
• Hashish.
• Tobacco seeds.
• Wood and wood products from: Walnut, Mulberry, cherry, pear, plum, Yew, ash, elm, lime, sweet gum, elderberry, Cretan date palm, olive, fig and salep.
• Bulbs of flowers.

When exporting jewelry, you must present documents on their purchase in the country.

Import standards for tourists

As in any country, there are maximum permissible norms for the carriage of goods and personal belongings. If they are exceeded, tourists must fill out a declaration, and in some cases pay customs duties. Please note that goods purchased in dutifrey stores are also considered imported goods.

Here's what you can import into Turkey without paying duties:

• Cigarettes and tobacco products are allowed for import only by persons over 18 years of age no more than 600 cigarettes, 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars, 250 grams of tobacco, 200 sheets of tobacco.
• Alcohol is allowed for import only to persons over 18 years of age no more than 1 liter of strong alcohol more than 22% strength, and no more than 2 liters of weak alcohol up to 22%.
• Perfume products-no more than 5 bubbles up to 12 each.
• Coffee, tea, chocolate, sugar – no more than 1 kg.of each type.
• Jewelry for personal use worth no more than $ 15,000.
• Gifts total value no more than 430 euros for persons over 15 years, and 150 euros for persons under 15 years. By gifts, we mean items that you will give and leave in Turkey.

It is also allowed to introduce no more than 2 pets and 10 aquarium fish, but they must be accompanied by appropriate vaccination certificates, a veterinary passport.

Goods of vegetable or animal origin may additionally be subject to veterinary control at the border.

Import/export of currency

The import and export of cash in Turkey is not restricted in any way, but the export of any currency in the amount of more than $ 5,000 is subject to declaration.

How to import medicines to Turkey

Medicines can be imported into Turkey without problems if they are intended for personal use, and there are no drugs in them. But you need to understand that if you import several packages, then during a random check by customs officers you may well arouse suspicion, and then you will have to prove that you are carrying for personal use, and this is not a commercial party. Proof can serve as a prescription as well as a calculation of how much you need this medicine for the period of your stay in the country.

If you import narcotic drugs, then they necessarily need the presence of RECPTA. All this applies to both entry and exit from the country.
