We bring to your attention our selection of useful little things that should be put in a backpack or suitcase when preparing for a trip:
Mini lock
A small padlock or lock with a key is very useful if you have to stay in hostels or hotels, and store your belongings in cells or drawers that perform the function of a safe. Of course, most often locks are issued complete with boxes, but usually they charge for this. In addition, there is no guarantee that the staff does not have a duplicate of the issued lock, and therefore experienced travelers use their locks. And the lock can be used to protect luggage when transporting on an airplane or train, for which it can be fixed on the latch of a suitcase or connect two oncoming runners on the zipper of a backpack.
Flashlight
A small tourist or household flashlight will become an indispensable assistant, even if you are going on vacation on a voucher, and are not going on a hike. Our travel experience shows that even popular resorts do not always have street lighting, and even the most expensive hotels are not immune from unexpected power outages. For example, during one of our last trips to Sochi loo, we had to spend almost a day without electricity, which was turned off in the whole area due to accidents caused by bad weather. Then a small and light tourist flashlight was indispensable.
And if you think that such a flashlight is easy to replace with a flashlight function in the phone, then everything is not so simple. To use a phone or smartphone, you have to hold it in your hands all the time, and there is a great chance to simply drop it and break it. In addition, during a long absence of electricity, you can simply put the battery in the smartphone. So we advise you to take a small additional flashlight on any trip, because it weighs only a few tens of grams and costs from 200 rubles.
Adapter and tee
It has long been obvious to many travelers that going to another country it is worthwhile to clarify in advance what type of sockets are used there, and take care of a suitable adapter. But even more comfort and convenience add a simple tee. The fact is that the problem of lack of sockets is very common in hostels. Yes, and during the trip with a group or family, there is often a situation when everyone needs to charge their electronic gadgets at once, and there is only one outlet. That is why wherever we go, in addition to the adapter, we always take with us a simple and easy tee.
Earplugs
Perhaps it is clear to everyone that earplugs are a very useful thing in general, and not just when traveling. But many forget to put this trifle in the first-aid kit or cosmetic bag, and as a result suffer from the noise of neighbors in the hotel, when trying to fall asleep at the airport or plane, etc. So we include earplugs in our list of useful little things without fail.
Superglue
A miniature tube of superglue from a hardware store weighs almost nothing and does not take up much space, but it can serve an excellent service on a trip, and therefore we always take it with us. For example, they can urgently repair a cracked phone or camera, accidentally cracked through your fault the remote control from the TV in the hotel, accidentally damaged sunglasses or even glue a wound. Yes, surprisingly, in particularly critical situations, superglue can stop the bleeding of fairly large wounds, of course, only until the first qualified medical care is provided.
Set of rubber bands
You may be surprised, but on a trip you should take not only rubber bands from the pharmacy (although they can be very useful), but also ordinary rubber bands for money. Personally, we always take and carry them with us in the first-aid kit, because with a creative approach they can help a lot. For example, you can pinch the mime sleeves of clothing to protect against ticks or land leeches, fix the fallen loop on the backpack. And the last time such rubber bands came in handy on the beach in Egypt in order to fix the breathing tube on the elastic band of the snorkeling mask.
Portable electric stove
Tourists who prefer to travel in nature in tents, always have in their arsenal a pot and a portable gas or gasoline burner. If you travel with a backpack or suitcase, and at the same time stay in hotels or rented housing, then a light portable electric stove will be an excellent option to save on food. You can buy it from 500 rubles, while such a device weighs a little more than 600 grams. In addition, about 200 grams will go to a light aluminum pot and plastic dishes, and in total, such a set will weigh down your luggage by no more than one kilogram. But staying with him in inexpensive hotels, rooms or even hostels you can always cook yourself a hot meal, make coffee or tea. By the way, the covers on tourist pots can be used as a frying pan, so you can not only cook, but also fry.

And we advise you to buy a tile with a heating element in the form of a spiral, and not a flat cast iron surface, because they are much lighter.
The boiler
Not every trip you can take with you an electric stove, and therefore its excellent alternative will be a small boiler operating from the electrical network. You can buy this simple device in any hardware store for only 100 rubles, it almost does not take up weight and space, but it will allow you to make tea, coffee or brew fast food in any place where there is electricity.
You will not believe it, but our travel experience shows that on "doshirak" and instant porridges, complete with a boiler, you can safely stretch out more than one week in travel. Of course, it is worth switching completely to such food only in emergency cases, such as those that arose due to the cancellation of flights during the covid-19 pandemic. But even in other cases, the boiler will help out a lot and help save money.
Mosquito fumigator
Even not very experienced tourists know that going on vacation or on a trip in the warm season it is worth taking protection from mosquitoes with you, and most often they are limited to repelling blood-sucking insects with creams and sprays. However, such funds can not provide reliable protection during sleep, because even in "star" hotels a couple of mosquitoes can completely spoil your night's rest. And then a simple electric fumigator will come to the rescue at a cost of 100 rubles.
Fumigators are for working with consumables liquids, with plates or universal. We recommend buying a universal one, and as a consumable, if possible, buy liquids. Plates or liquid are usually included, but you can buy them as you use them.
