No, you cannot rent a tuk-tuk in Malaysia because they do not exist there at all. Unlike Thailand, India, or Sri Lanka, this type of transport is not common here. In Malaysia, the main means of transportation for tourists are motorbikes (scooters) and cars. You will not find tuk-tuks either in cities or on islands like Langkawi or Penang.

If you are looking for an alternative for independent travel, the best option is to rent a motorbike. It is convenient, inexpensive, and gives you complete freedom of movement. However, keep in mind that rental prices here are higher than in neighboring Southeast Asian countries. For example, a simple 110cc scooter will cost from 35 to 50 ringgit per day, while more powerful models can cost up to 100–120 ringgit.

Important: To ride a motorbike in Malaysia, you need an International Driving Permit (IDP) with category "A". Regular Russian licenses are not valid. You can get an IDP through Gosuslugi — it is quick and without exams.

Where to find rentals? In tourist areas (for example, on Pantai Chenang on Langkawi or in George Town on Penang) there are shops, but prices there are often inflated. It is better to go a couple of streets away from the main tourist trails or search for options online via Google Maps — just type "Motorbike for rent" and contact the owner via WhatsApp (owned by Meta, a company banned in Russia). Some rental companies even deliver the bike directly to your hotel.

If you still want to travel like in a tuk-tuk but with comfort, consider renting a car — this is also popular in Malaysia, and prices are sometimes comparable to renting a powerful motorbike. But for trips around islands and winding roads, a motorbike still remains the best choice.
