On Langkawi, there are several picturesque waterfalls where you can safely and pleasantly swim. Here are the best locations, tested from personal experience:
-
Durian Waterfall (Durian Perangin) — our favorite and the best place for swimming.
- Why: It almost never dries up, even in the dry season. The area is private, very well-maintained: there are convenient steps, bridges, gazebos for resting, and most importantly — a large clean pool at the base of the cascade with cool fresh water.
- Price and infrastructure: Entry is only 2 ringgit. There is a cafe and market nearby. You can come with children.
- Life hack: Watch your belongings — there are many cheeky monkeys here that are not averse to stealing food.
-
Seven Wells Waterfall (Telaga Tujuh) — the most picturesque natural baths.
- Why: The water has carved seven natural pools in the rock, connected by small streams. The view is incredible! You can swim in several of them.
- Features: To reach them, you need to overcome a staircase of 638 steps (ascent 20-40 minutes). At the top, there are toilets and gazebos.
- Price: Entry — 10 ringgit per person.
-
Temurun Waterfall (Temurun Waterfall) — the tallest and most popular among locals.
- Why: The cascade height is about 30 meters (like a 9-story building), and a pool for swimming also forms at the base.
- Important: In the dry season (approximately from December to March), it can dry up significantly and turn into a small stream. It's better to go after rain.
- Price: Entry is free.
What to bring: Be sure to take a swimsuit, towel, water, and snacks. At Durian Waterfall and Seven Wells, you can have a picnic. Wear comfortable non-slip shoes for walking on wet stones.
