The main port on Langkawi is Kuah Jetty. It is located in the island's capital, Kuah city, and handles almost all ferry services: from mainland Malaysia (from Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis) and from Thailand (from Satun, and in season, also from Koh Lipe).
The infrastructure at Kuah Jetty is excellent. It is a modern international terminal, where there are:
- Passport control for international flights.
- Duty-free shops (Langkawi is a duty-free zone).
- ATMs that work with UnionPay cards.
- Currency exchange offices (although the rate here may not be the most favorable).
- Cafes and snack bars.
- Car and motorcycle rental counters right in the terminal building.
After arrival, the easiest way to get to the hotel is using the Grab app (a local analogue of Uber). A trip to popular beaches like Cenang or Tengah will cost about 20-25 ringgit. Official taxis at the exit will be more expensive.
