Yes, renting a car in Langkawi is definitely worth it. It is the best and most convenient way to explore the island, as public transport is poorly developed, and taxis or Grab for daily trips to different locations will be expensive. With a car, you can independently reach remote beaches, waterfalls, the cable car, and attractions at any time.

Where to rent cheaper? The most favorable prices are when booking online in advance and often directly at the airport upon arrival.

  • At the airport (LGK): There are many rental company counters in the arrivals hall. Prices start from 50 Malaysian ringgit per day for a compact car. This is cheaper than renting a car at resorts.
  • At Cenang Beach: There are also many agencies there, but prices are usually higher, from 120 ringgit/day.
  • Online aggregators: To compare prices and book in advance, use websites like Trip.com, LocalRent, or DiscoverCars. This allows you to find the best offers and save money.

For rental, you will need an international driver's license (IDP) or a national license with a certified English translation, although many companies rent cars even with regular Russian licenses. Be sure to check the car for any damages before departure and photograph them.

If you don't drive a car, an alternative could be renting a motorbike (from 30 ringgit/day at the airport) or using Grab taxis for individual trips.
