When crossing the border from Thailand to Malaysia by ferry, the import of fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, peppers, and other agricultural products is strictly prohibited. Malaysian customs takes the protection of its flora from pests and diseases very seriously.
Attention! Do not take any fruits purchased at Thai markets on the ferry: neither mango, nor durian, nor mangosteen, nor nuts and spices. They are almost certain to be detected during random customs baggage checks upon arrival in Langkawi. The products will be confiscated, and you may face a fine. It is better to consume all edible souvenirs before sailing from Koh Lipe.
Personal belongings and electronics are allowed, and of course, you can buy goods in duty-free. Langkawi is a duty-free zone, so it is advantageous to purchase alcohol, chocolate, and perfume here.
