Yes, getting to Langkawi from Thailand by ferry is a popular and scenic way, especially if you want to combine visits to two countries. There are two main routes: from the city of Satun and from the island of Koh Lipe.

1. From Satun (Satun). This is the main route from mainland Thailand. First, you need to get to the city of Satun from Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, or Hat Yai (by bus or taxi). From the pier in Satun (Tammalang Pier), the ferry to Langkawi (Kuah port) runs once a day. The travel time is about 1.5 hours, and the fare is approximately 450 Thai baht. This is a budget option but requires careful planning due to the infrequent schedule.

2. From the island of Koh Lipe (Koh Lipe). This option works only in the high season (approximately from November to May), when ferry service is established. Direct ferries from Koh Lipe arrive in Langkawi at Telaga Harbour port. The journey takes 1.5–2 hours, and a ticket costs about 1300 baht. This is a great opportunity for island hopping, but keep in mind that getting to Koh Lipe itself is also a separate trip.

Important to compare: Although the route through Thailand is interesting, it is rarely faster or cheaper than flying via Kuala Lumpur. It makes sense if you are already in southern Thailand or are specifically planning a combined tour. If your goal is specifically Langkawi, flying via Malaysia will be more reliable.
