There are ATMs on the island, and even in several places. But of course, there are their peculiarities.
Where are the ATMs located?
- At Pattaya Beach pier (the ferry landing spot). There is a Krungsri ATM (yellow) there. Convenient if you urgently need baht to pay for the national park.
- On Walking Street. While strolling along the main street, you will see Bangkok Bank (blue) and Kasikorn (green) ATMs. They are located near exchange offices and souvenir shops.
- Near the 7-11 on Sunrise Beach. There is also a small ATM there, but it sometimes doesn't work.
What is the commission? Standard for Thailand — 220 baht per transaction (regardless of the amount). This commission is charged by the local bank and is displayed on the screen before confirmation. Plus, your bank may charge its own commission for conversion and withdrawal (usually 0.5–1% + a fixed amount).
Advice on withdrawal amount: to avoid the commission eating up all the money, withdraw a large sum immediately — 10,000–15,000 baht. Then the 220 baht commission becomes 1.5–2%, which is still tolerable. Withdrawing 2,000 baht means losing 11% just on the local commission.
Do they work with UnionPay? Yes, all three banks (Krungsri, Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn) support UnionPay. We had no problems. The main thing is that your card has a chip and you know the PIN code.
💡 Lifehack: you can cash out money through an exchange office. They charge 5% per transaction. For small amounts, this might be more profitable than paying 220 baht to the ATM.
Important: ATMs on the island sometimes run out of money during the high season (January–March), as tourists actively withdraw. It's better to have a cash reserve or withdraw in the morning before the cash collection has passed.
