In 2026, you can take almost any fruit out of Thailand – no special permission from Thai authorities is required. The main exception is durian: it is strictly forbidden to bring it into the airport building or the airplane cabin due to its strong smell. Even in sealed packaging in checked luggage, it is not worth carrying durian – the smell will still leak out, your belongings will smell, and you may be fined. Better buy durian-flavored candies to take home.

All other fruits (mangoes, dragon fruit, mangosteens, rambutans, coconuts, etc.) can be taken out without restrictions from Thailand. But there is an important nuance: the rules for bringing fruits into Russia. According to Russian customs regulations, one person can bring no more than 5 kilograms of fruits (and other plant products) from abroad. If you bring more, Russian customs may confiscate them or issue a fine. So plan the quantity based on this limit.

If you plan to carry large or unripe fruits – wrap them in several layers of paper or bubble wrap so they do not get bruised or stain your belongings. Perishable fruits (e.g., ripe mangoes) are best transported in checked luggage in a container.

One more thing: taking seashells and corals out of Thailand (even those found on the beach) is prohibited. If you want to take a shell, buy it in a souvenir shop with a receipt stating "Souvenir shell, not endangered species". Otherwise, you may have problems at Thai customs.
