Trains from Bangkok to Pattaya depart from Hua Lamphong Railway Station (on the official website and in schedules, it is often simply referred to as "Bangkok"). This is the old main station of the city. The new central station Krung Thep Aphiwat (Bang Sue) is not used for trains to Pattaya.

Traveling by train is one of the cheapest ways to get to Pattaya. A ticket in 3rd class carriage (seated) costs only about 31 baht. The travel time is approximately 3.5-4 hours. This is slower than by bus or minibus, but it is safer and allows you to see non-touristic landscapes.

Note: Trains do not run very frequently, usually several times a day. It is better to check the schedule in advance on the aggregator 12go.asia. The train arrives at Pattaya Station, which is not in the very center of the city, but to the south of it. From the station to the center of Pattaya or Jomtien, you can take a songthaew (local pickup truck minibus) or taxi.
