Yes, mobile network and internet in Thailand from major operators (dtac, AIS, True Move H) work excellently on popular islands, including Phuket and Samui. Coverage is available in tourist areas, beaches, and main cities.

What you need to know about network on the islands:

  • Network quality: In the center of Patong, Chaweng, or in Phuket city, the signal is stable, often 4G. In remote bays or inland areas of the island, the signal may be weaker or switch to 3G.
  • Operator choice: All three major operators have good coverage on the islands. AIS is often praised for stability in remote locations, but dtac also performs excellently.
  • Tourist SIM cards: Ready-made packages like "dtac HAPPY TOURIST SIM" or similar from other operators, purchased on the mainland or at the airport, will work on the islands without any additional settings.

Recommendation: If your itinerary includes trips to very remote corners of the islands, you can choose operator AIS, which traditionally has the widest coverage in the country. But for standard beach vacations and sightseeing trips, you won't notice a difference between operators.
