Is it possible to buy Thai baht in Russia before the trip?

Yes, it is possible, but it is not profitable. Since 2024, Sberbank has started selling Thai baht in some of its branches (mainly in Moscow and St. Petersburg, with the geography expanding from 2025).
However, the purchase rate for baht at Sberbank is significantly less favorable than if you bought dollars in Russia and exchanged them already in Thailand.
Calculation for clarity (for 100,000 rubles):
- Direct purchase of baht at Sberbank (at a rate of ~27.59 rubles/10 baht): you will receive ~36,245 baht.
- Purchase of dollars at Sberbank + exchange in Thailand: you will receive ~39,080 baht.
The difference is about 7.25% (or 7,250 rubles from every hundred thousand).
Conclusion: Buying baht in Russia makes sense only for a very small amount for the very first expenses (for example, a taxi from the airport). For the main amount of money, this option is not recommended.
For the current exchange rate and a list of Sberbank branches where you can buy baht, see the official bank website.
