Yes, it is worth it, but with the right expectations. Cat Cat Village is not an authentic ethnic village, but rather a tourist attraction often referred to as a "Disneyland" for travelers. If you understand this and do not expect full immersion in traditional life, then the visit will be interesting and educational.

Here are the main reasons why it is worth going here:

  • Easy accessibility: this is the closest village to Sapa, easily reachable on foot independently, without the need to take a tour or guide.
  • Beautiful views: along the way, captivating landscapes of mountains and terraces open up.
  • Complex of entertainment for one ticket: you will see Cat Cat Waterfall (Tien Sa), a lake, a suspension bridge, a traditional Hmong house, water mills, and a garden.
  • Cultural show: several times a day, a traditional dance and music performance included in the ticket price takes place.
  • Convenient starting point for trekking: the village serves as an excellent starting point for an independent hike to more remote and authentic villages in the Muong Hoa Valley, such as Lao Chai and Ta Van.
Most of the walk through Cat Cat passes through souvenir stalls

Be prepared that a significant part of the route passes through souvenir stalls. If you are looking for a deeper immersion in the culture, it is better to go on a multi-day trek with an overnight stay in distant villages.
