Yes, definitely worth it. The Tomb of Khai Dinh is a unique monument that differs significantly from other imperial tombs in Hue. While the tombs of Tu Duc and Minh Mang are classic Vietnamese park ensembles harmonizing with nature, Khai Dinh impresses with its monumentality and whimsical blend of architectural styles. It more resembles a luxurious stone palace or mausoleum built into a mountainside.

The main impression is made by the interior decoration of the main pavilion, Thien Dinh. The walls and ceiling are almost entirely covered with incredibly intricate mosaics made from millions of fragments of porcelain and colored glassβ€”the best craftsmen in the country worked on this interior for several years. In the center of the hall is a bronze statue of the emperor.

The complex is compact, and exploring it usually takes no more than 30-40 minutes, which is convenient for including in an itinerary. Visiting this tomb will allow you to see the contrast of eras and the influence of Western architecture on Vietnamese culture during the colonial period.
