Yes, definitely worth it. If you have come to Hue, visiting the Imperial Citadel (Imperial City) is a must-do item on your itinerary. This is the main attraction not only of the city but of all central Vietnam, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The citadel is a grand 'city within a city'β€”the former residence of the Vietnamese emperors of the Nguyen dynasty. Behind the massive walls lie palaces, temples, pavilions, and gardens, forming a true open-air museum. We personally visited the complex twice and do not regret the time and money spent at all.

The question is more about what else to visit in addition. We strongly recommend purchasing a unified combined ticket, which includes entry to the Citadel and two or three Royal Tombs (for example, Tu Duc and Minh Mang). This turns out to be significantly more economical, and such a ticket is valid for two days, which is very convenient for planning.

On the grounds, you will see impressive sights: the majestic main gate Ngo Mon, the imperial coronation hall Thai Hoa Palace, the most beautifully restored palace Kien Trung, temples, and picturesque gardens. This place offers not only deep immersion in history but also hundreds of opportunities for beautiful photographs.
