The Tomb of Khai Dinh is interesting primarily for its unique architectural style, which differs significantly from other imperial tombs in Vietnam. It reflects the era of the penultimate emperor, who was strongly influenced by French colonizers. Here, traditional Vietnamese motifs intertwine with elements of European neoclassicism and even Gothic.

What you must see:

  • Multi-tiered stone staircase: Leading from the foot of the hill to the entrance, it creates a sense of solemnity.
  • Main pavilion Thien Dinh (Thien Dinh): This is the heart of the tomb. Inside, you will find the main treasure—walls and ceiling completely covered with incredibly detailed mosaics of porcelain and colored glass. This is a sight that truly impresses.
  • Bronze statue of the emperor: It is located in the center of the main hall under a luxurious canopy.
  • Burial chamber: Located behind the statue, behind glass.
  • Marble room with personal belongings: Where you can see items that belonged to the emperor.
  • Thematic stone sculptures: Placed throughout the complex.
But the most impressive is inside the mausoleum

The complex is small and practically devoid of greenery, everything is made of stone, which enhances the impression of monumentality. We have told in detail about the history of this place and included many photos in our article: Tomb of Khai Dinh in Hue: how to visit, opening hours and cost
