On the territory of the Tomb of Tu Duc, you can see a huge park complex with an artificial lake, palaces, pavilions, ancient gates, and a unique stele with the emperor's autobiography. This place resembles a luxurious country residence more than a cemetery.

Here are the main objects worth paying attention to:

  • Artificial Lake Luoc Khiem (Luoc Khiem): A picturesque body of water around which the entire complex is built. There are gazebos by the water where you can relax.
  • Stele Pavilion (Stele Pavilion): Here lies a huge stone slab weighing about 20 tons. It is engraved with the autobiography of Emperor Tu Duc, written by himself—a unique document where he speaks of his merits, illnesses, and regrets.
  • Palaces and pavilions: For example, Hoa Khiem (Hoa Khiem)—a pavilion that the emperor used as a study, and later, altars for him and his wife were placed here.
  • The tomb itself: The burial place of the emperor, located on an elevation. Interestingly, the exact location of his body's burial is unknown to protect it from looting.
  • Numerous gates and sculptures: The territory is adorned with beautiful ancient gates and stone figures of courtiers, soldiers, and animals.
The Tomb of Tu Duc complex is a large park with an artificial lake

Near the entrance, already outside the paid area, is the famous Incense Village (Incense Village). A street lined with shops selling colorful aromatic sticks—a very photogenic place worth visiting.

We have described in detail every corner of this complex and included many real photos in our guide. We recommend reading the article Tomb of Tu Duc in Hue: how to visit, opening hours and cost to plan the perfect visit.
