How to get from Ho Chi Minh City airport to the tourist area?

From Ho Chi Minh City airport (Tan Son Nhat) to the tourist area (Pham Ngu Lao/Bui Vien streets), you can get there by city bus or taxi.

The most budget-friendly way is by bus. Suitable routes include:

• No. 152: A classic city bus. The fare is about 5,000-8,000 dong (0.2-0.35$). It takes about 40-60 minutes considering traffic. The stop is located to the left of the terminal exit.
• No. 109: A more comfortable express bus. The fare is about 20,000 dong (0.85$). The journey takes about the same time, but may be faster due to fewer stops.

Both buses will take you to the final stop in the Ben Thanh market area, from where it's a short walk to hotels on Pham Ngu Lao.

The fastest and most convenient way is by taxi or Grab (the local equivalent of Uber). The trip will cost 150,000 — 200,000 dong (6-8.5$) and take 20-40 minutes depending on traffic. Be sure to use the Grab app or only take official taxis with meters (Mai Linh, Vinasun).
