Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and the cultural center of the country, perfectly suited for sightseeing vacations. People come here to immerse themselves in a mix of ancient Asian exoticism and modern urban hustle, to see historical monuments, temples, and museums. The city is the main starting point for travels in northern Vietnam: from here, it's convenient to go to Halong Bay, mountainous Sapa, Cat Ba Island, or the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. There is no beach vacation in Hanoi itself; the nearest beaches are more than 100 km away. To fully explore the city, plan at least 2-3 days.
Hanoi is among the top ten most attractive tourist cities in Asia. Here you'll find Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, the famous Lake of the Returned Sword (Hoan Kiem), the Old Quarter with narrow streets, the Temple of Literature, and many interesting museums. The city is very noisy and lively, with an endless stream of motorcycles, creating a unique, incomparable atmosphere, but it can be tiring. Tourist infrastructure is excellently developed: a huge selection of hotels for any budget, restaurants, cafes, and transportation.
