In Egyptian resort cities such as Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, the most profitable and reliable points for currency exchange are ATMs of major banks and official exchange offices.

ATMs (CIB, Banque Misr, Credit Agricole) are scattered throughout tourist areas, in shopping centers, and on embankments. They offer a good rate, close to the official one, and a clear commission. This is the best choice for safety and convenience.

Exchange offices are also found in resorts. These can range from modern offices with electronic boards to small shops. The rate in them is often even slightly better than in banks, but vigilance is required: carefully read all conditions on the board (especially regarding commissions), recount the money upon receipt, and check the bills.

What to avoid: exchanging at the airport (unprofitable) and with random street changers (risky and offers almost no advantages in 2025). Bank branches are reliable, but their working hours (usually until 2:00 PM, closed on Friday and Saturday) are not always convenient for tourists.
