In Hanoi, you can easily exchange dollars, euros, yuan, baht, yen, pounds, and other world currencies. However, the truly acceptable rates are for cash dollars and euros, while yuan and rubles are accepted at very poor rates.

You can exchange money at Hanoi airport upon arrival, but the rate there is about 1.2-1.5% lower. This difference is not very large, and you can safely exchange 50-100 dollars for the first time, and the main amount in the city.

In the city, there are a huge number of exchange points, especially in the tourist area near Hoan Kiem Lake. Here, you can exchange at any travel agency, in hotels, even just in shops. But we do not advise rushing and exchanging at the first place you come across.

The most favorable rate is traditionally in jewelry stores and workshops. If you want to get the most favorable rate almost in all of Vietnam, then head straight to the jewelry streets:
