How much alcohol per person can be brought into Sharm el-Sheikh, and does it need to be in checked baggage or only from duty-free in a bag?

In Sharm el-Sheikh, the same customs regulations apply as in all of Egypt, including those for transporting alcohol. According to current regulations, you can bring 2 liters of alcohol per person into Egypt without paying duty, and only individuals over 20 years old can import alcohol and cigarettes. You can bring it in either checked baggage or carry-on from duty-free shops. Any alcohol brought in, including that purchased in duty-free shops, is cumulative. That is, if you brought 2 liters per person from home and bought an additional 1 liter in duty-free, you effectively have 3 liters, which would be a violation.
