Rabbit Card is a rechargeable card for paying fares on the Bangkok BTS Skytrain. The card is purchased for 100 baht (this is a non-refundable deposit) and can be topped up with any amount. Each trip deducts the fare from the card, but with a small discount: for example, the minimum trip costs 15 baht instead of 16 baht.
Using the Rabbit Card is very simple: tap it on the reader zone at the turnstile when entering and exiting. The card does not require registration and is valid indefinitely, but if you are a tourist, it may not be very cost-effective compared to single tickets if you travel infrequently.
The advantage of the Rabbit Card is saving time: you don't need to buy a ticket from the machine each time, especially during peak hours. The card can be topped up at BTS station counters or machines.
Rabbit Card is also accepted at some shops and cafes, adding convenience. However, it is not valid for the underground MRT and other types of transportβseparate tickets or cards are needed there.
If you plan to travel a lot on the BTS, Rabbit Card is a good choice. For short trips, single tickets remain a more practical option.
