Ferries to Cat Ba depart from different cities, and their schedule may change. From Haiphong, the main ferry from Cat Hai pier runs very frequently, almost every 10 minutes from 06:00 to 18:00, cost 6000 dong. It arrives at Cai Vieng pier on Cat Ba. There are also speedboats from Gang Hong Bang pier, which arrive almost in the center of Cat Ba town, but their operation is not always stable.
From Halong, ferries depart from Tuan Chau pier at 07:30, 09:00, 11:30, 13:30, and 15:00, return β at 09:00, 11:30, 13:00, 15:00, and 16:00. The journey takes 50 minutes, cost for a passenger β 60,000 dong. These ferries arrive at Gia Luan pier.
On Cat Ba itself, there is a regular ferry between Ben Beo/Cai Beo pier and Viet Hai village, but tourists are often not allowed on it, instead being offered expensive private boats. Schedule: from the town at 11:00 and 16:15, from the village at 07:00 and 13:00. Always check the current schedule before your trip, as it may change.
