Buses are divided into three main types:
- Simple — without air conditioning, the cheapest.
- Express — often with air conditioning, faster and about twice as expensive. They mainly run on the west and southwest coast.
- Branded — only seated, air-conditioned, operate on popular intercity routes, for example, to Colombo Airport. The fare in them is higher, for example, from Negombo to Colombo — from 500 rupees.
