Are international category B licenses suitable for renting a bike in Sri Lanka?

For operating motorized two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycle, scooter, moped) in Sri Lanka, category 'A' is strictly required. No categories such as M, A1, B, etc., are accepted for operating even a low-powered scooter. Therefore, if you do not have category 'A' on your license, you will be in violation with any license. It is impossible to 'register' this category legally when obtaining local licenses or temporary permits. Additionally, you are required to present, upon request by a police officer, both your international driving permit and your national license, and if discrepancies are found (e.g., category A is listed in the international permit but not in the national license), you may face a fine starting from 25,000 rupees and even criminal prosecution.
