First of all, you need to understand that taking something out of a country and carrying it in hand luggage are different things, in most cases unrelated. That is, for example, you can easily take a pack of juice out of Egypt, but you cannot carry it in hand luggage, only in checked baggage. That is, how much and what can be carried in hand luggage is determined not by the country, but by the airline.

There are no special restrictions on taking medicines out of Egypt or bringing them into Russia or another country. There are also no specific norms for transporting medicines in checked baggage or hand luggage on an airplane. Only standard customs restrictions and airline rules apply. Let us briefly recall them:

  • Through customs, you can transport any non-prohibited medicines, that is the main thing. Prohibited ones are usually psychotropic and narcotic drugs, and without a special permit and prescription from official pharmacies, they will not sell them to you anyway, and if there are any restrictions, they will warn you about it.
  • Another restriction: it should not be a commercial batch, but goods for personal use, and this is usually checked upon entry into the country of arrival, while upon departure from Egypt they usually do not pay attention. Therefore, you should first look at the import norms of the country. For example, in the Russian Federation, by air transport, you are allowed to import items worth no more than 10,000 euros and a total weight of no more than 50 kg, and everything above that is subject to duty. Therefore, when transporting medicines in large quantities, to avoid questions at customs, you should keep receipts of purchase and not carry a large number of identical medications in packaging.
  • Finally, you cannot carry liquids in hand luggage in containers larger than 100 ml. This includes gels, shampoos, ointments, toothpastes. Therefore, put all this in checked baggage, and then no problems will arise.
