Answer

Due to sanctions, almost all banks in Vietnam do not work with Mir cards, except for one single bank VRB. And only in ATMs of this bank and retail outlets with their terminal do Mir cards work. There are only 14 such ATMs throughout Vietnam today. Moreover, from our own experience, let's say that every second one we managed to check turned out to be non-working.

VRB ATMs are available in Ha Shomin, Da Nang, Hanoi, Nha Trang, Vung Tau and Hai Phong. If you need, there is an official list with addresses of retail outlets and ATMs on the VRB bank website where Mir cards work, it is posted here as a PDF file. But it is much easier to find ATMs on Google Maps by searching VRB ATM VIETNAM, just look carefully, because the map mistakenly highlights some other ATMs.

And just in case: we tested the Mir card for cash withdrawal from our own experience and got a very disappointing result. Unfortunately, the exchange rate on it turned out to be significantly worse than exchanging through cash dollars or euros. That is, in the end, you will get much fewer dongs from rubles than if you exchanged these rubles for dongs through cash currency. Therefore, we do not recommend using Mir yet.
