What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting

Bursa City Museum or Bursa Kent Muzesi - the best in town and a must-visit if you want to get to know the city and its history. Tells about the history of the region and the Ottoman Empire since the time of the first Sultans, and will take you to the end of the last century. The prehistoric period is not represented.

The exposition is very well-groomed, informative, voluminous and modern. Along with traditional exhibits telling about history and everyday life, there are a lot of modern interactive installations, video screens broadcasting videos. There are even a few exhibits produced in the USSR, try to find them. The only bad thing is that the information is not duplicated in English, and many of them can only be guessed.

The main exhibition consists of 3 floors (Basement, 1st and 2nd floors), and opposite the main building of the museum is a second building, exactly the same in architecture, where temporary exhibitions of local artists and artisans are held.
