Description and is it worth a visit
The full name of Wat Xieng Thong Temple is Wat Xiengthong Sayaroharamathibodimahavihanh. This is the royal temple, and it is the most popular, visited, and most beautiful in Luang Prabang. Its name translates to the name "city of golden temples", because it really just sparkles with gold.
Perhaps this is the first temple that you should visit if you do not have enough time for the rest. This is a whole complex of several temple buildings, each of which is interesting in its own way. One contains ancient Buddhist artifacts, another is filled with Buddha statues and ceremonial carts, the third is covered with gold, etc. In general, if you take your time and inspect everything carefully, then you can spend an hour here unnoticed. And ideally, you need to visit the complex with a guide, because this place has a very rich history associated with the royal family. Unfortunately, there are no official guides when buying tickets, but you can hire one of the freelance guides spinning around.
