Description and is it worth a visit

Chompet temple (Wat Chomphet, or Wat Chom Phet, in full Wat Chomphet Satni Silimoungknoun Vaxi Alram) is located on a hilltop on the other side of the Mekong River opposite Luang Prabang. It offers breathtaking views of the city and the river. The temple was built in 1888 by the Thai army. To climb to the platform, where the view opens, you will have to overcome 123 steps. Visit Wat Chomphet best in conjunction with other temples on this side of the river: Wat Xieng Maen and Wat Long Khun.

🚶 How to get there

The temple is located in the village of Ban Xieng Maen on the opposite side of the Mekong River (Wat Chomphet temple on the map). To get here, you need to take a car ferry or passenger motor boat, which depart from the marinas opposite the Royal Palace for 5000 Kip approximately every 10-15 minutes by occupancy. Further from the pier on the other side you need to walk to the temple one kilometer on the signs.
