No, for a trip to Bangkok for tourist purposes for up to 60 days, Russian citizens do not need a visa. In 2026, visa-free entry to Thailand applies to Russians, including the capital. You just need a valid passport for the entire duration of your trip and fill out the electronic Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) on the immigration website no earlier than 3 days before departure.

When going through passport control at Bangkok airports (Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang), you will simply receive a stamp allowing you to stay in the country for up to 60 days. It is important to remember that although it is not always checked, you should have with you:

  • Return tickets or tickets to a third country confirming departure within the visa-free period.
  • Cash of at least 20,000 baht per person or 40,000 baht per family (equivalent in dollars, euros, or rubles). Bank statements are not accepted; cash is required.

If you plan to stay in Bangkok longer than 60 days, you do not have to do a complicated "visa run." You can simply extend your visa-free stay for another 30 days by visiting any Thai Immigration Bureau. The extension fee is 1900 baht. A list of all offices with addresses is available in our guide.

For citizens of other CIS countries (Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Baltic states), a visa for Bangkok is required. However, they can obtain a Visa on Arrival at the airport. It costs 2000 baht and is valid for 15 days. Requirements include a passport valid for at least 6 months, a photo, a return ticket, and proof of financial means.
