Answer (changed )

Renting a motorcycle (scooter) in Langkawi in 2026 will cost at least 35 to 50 Malaysian ringgit (approximately $7.4-$10.6) per day for a basic 110 cc model. More powerful scooters (125-150 cc) are more expensive — from 60 to 120 ringgit ($12.7-$25.5) per day.

The price heavily depends on the rental location and your bargaining skills:

  • At the airport prices are often lower. You can find offers from 30 ringgit ($6.4) per day with advance booking and delivery to the airport.
  • At the popular Cenang Beach they might initially ask from 50 ringgit, but after bargaining, you can lower the price to 35-40 ringgit.
Motorcycle rental in Langkawi — one of many, but prices vary everywhere

When renting, they usually ask for a deposit of 50-100 ringgit in cash. Insurance is typically not included in the cost. You will be given a helmet (most often one). Before leaving, be sure to photograph and video all existing damages on the scooter — this will protect you from unjustified claims upon return.

Minimum cost of motorcycle (scooter) rental in Malaysia for comparison
Place Type / Volume Price (MYR)
Langkawi 110 cc (minimum) 35-45
Langkawi 125-150 cc 60-120
Penang (Georgetown) 110 cc 45-55

To operate a motorcycle in Langkawi, an international driving permit (IDP) with category "A" is officially required. Although many rental companies may provide vehicles with Russian licenses, if stopped by police, their absence can result in a fine.
