If you only have one day, focus on the most iconic attractions that are close to the city. The perfect day route includes history, nature, and unique locations.

Main places for one day:

  1. Bridge over the River Kwai (Death Railway Bridge): The hallmark of the province. Walk across it, visit the nearby JEATH war museum.
  2. Allied War Cemetery (Kanchanaburi War Cemetery): A touching and important historical site located in the city center.
  3. Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea): Located just 15 km from the city. An amazing temple complex on a mountain with a huge Buddha statue, a cave, and a monk's mummy. You can climb on foot or by cable car.
  4. Cave Temple and Dangerous Kra Sae Bridge: A unique place where the railway winds along a cliff over the river. You can walk on the sleepers (when there's no train!) and visit the cave temple.
How to manage: It's best to rent a scooter or take a taxi/tuk-tuk for the whole day with waiting. This will give maximum mobility. An alternative is to buy a group tour "River Kwai," which usually includes these points.

If you have time and prefer nature over history, instead of Kra Sae Bridge, you can go to the Giant Tree (20 km from the city) or see the stone workshops on the way to Erawan Waterfall.
